CMS has directed State Medicaid agencies to begin provider revalidation reviews, starting with high-risk provider types. Providers without a National Provider Identifier (NPI) will be considered high-risk for this review.
Ohio requires an NPI to enroll as a Medicaid provider; see Ohio Administrative Code 5160-1-17(D)(1). DODD recently notified providers whose NPI is not listed in PNM. If your NPI is missing, add it through the Edit Key Provider Identifiers link in PNM using the Edit Key Identifiers – Quick Reference Guide. To apply for an NPI, visit the CMS website.
Ohio will soon begin revalidating active Medicaid providers and will not revalidate providers without an NPI. DODD expects all providers to obtain an NPI within 30 days of application submission.
