MBS is often asked why we encrypt certain emails. We use an email encryption platform to ensure sensitive information is transmitted safely.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a federal law enacted to improve the nation’s health care system. It defines requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information (PHI).

The Privacy Rule standards address the use and disclosure of PHI by entities subject to the rule. These individuals and organizations include billing agencies.

The Security Rule protects a subset of information covered by the Privacy Rule. This subset is all individually identifiable health information a covered entity creates, receives, maintains or transmits in electronic form.
