Below are some important highlights from the recent Ohio Medicaid Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) update:
1. Optional GPS Capture
Capturing coordinates may only be done with written consent of the person receiving services. Location must also be captured for all logged visits at the start and end of the visit, documenting either “in the individual home” or “community.”
You may use your own GPS Capture consent form if it collects all the data elements in the ODM form: ODM10375 (6/2024).
Providers must demonstrate consent has been obtained and maintained. Consent is effective from the date of recipient’s signature for one year, but may be revoked any time. When the recipient does not provide consent, the provider must turn off GPS capture. If consent is revoked, the form must be updated.
2. Live In Exemption
Direct care workers over 18 years old living in the same residential household full time may qualify for the live-in exemption. Direct Care Workers must continue to log all services subject to EVV until the submitted EVV exemption request is approved by ODM. Documentation of a shared address is required and must be submitted with the exemption request form to be considered for an exemption.
3. EVV Claims Adjudication
The first phase of the claims adjudication process begins with home health services billed through State Plan Fee for Service. Beginning 10.01.24, claims for these services only will require complete EVV visit data to receive payment. This does not include DODD home and community-based waiver services. ODM will communicate with affected providers at least three months prior to initiating claims denials.
