Did you know that there is a Medicaid maximum of $800 for a Daily Billing Unit (DBU)?
In an MRC site, if projected costs for an individual’s DBU exceed $800, the County should request exemption for the site from the MRC and instead arrange for it to be billed as Homemaker Personal Care (HPC).
If the site is set up as HPC, all individuals shall be billed in that manner (15-minute units) and the provider will become eligible to participate in Electronic Visit Verification (EVV).
Recently, MBS assisted a few providers in recognizing this issue. The providers reached out to MBS to help determine why they weren’t being reimbursed the amount billed through the MRC. These providers were losing a considerable amount of revenue.
