Non-Medical Transportation Refresher

“Non-Medical Transportation” (NMT) means transportation used by an individual enrolled in Individual Options, Level 1, and Self-Empowering Life Funding Waivers to get to, from, between, or among:

  1. A place of employment;
  2. A location where adult day support, career planning, group employment support, individual employment support, or vocational habilitation is provided to the individual;
  3. A volunteer activity;
  4. A post-secondary educational program;
  5. An internship or practicum; and/or
  6. A drop-off or transfer location

An individual’s NMT needs may be met through a combination of the 3 services below:

  1. Non-Medical Transportation per trip – shall be authorized between the individual’s residence and one of the locations mentioned above;
  2. Non-Medical Transportation per mile – shall be authorized when transporting in circumstances other than mentioned above; and
  3. Non-Medical Transportation provided by operators of commercial vehicles

Non-Medical Transportation shall be provided pursuant to an ISP conforming to rule 5123-4-02 of the Administrative Code.
